Before I wrote the book DREAM LUCKY about Count Basie, Benny Goodman, the Roosevelts, Amelia Earhart, et al, I wrote for children. I'm still writing for children, in fact. I'd been a music . . . more

Hi Roxane,
I just want to thank you for stopping by my gather and choosing me to be a friend. I am new and still learning to navigate my way around Gather. Again, thanks!

Thanks for the nice message on my review of your book, Dream Lucky. Thanks so much for bringing back some music that I had been neglecting lately too!

I have always felt the desire to write for children. Please clue me in to the path? Honored that you asked for a connection.
Blessings, Wilka

Roxane, I just got the message that you want to join my group. I am terribly flattered. In reading all about you, you sound really cool.
And now the embarrassing part, since Gather did its last big "up-grade", I can barely function on this web site. I am one step away from closing my account. I think it would be a little goofy to accept a connection just a week before I shut down. I think you are BRAVE to stick it out and still struggle through this new Gather format. I will most probably be gone by the end of this month. But I am honored by your request for a connection. Thank you so much. Pamela L.

Sorry, I just stumbled across your ping. I love jazz and have my father to thank for that. He exposed me to a musical genre that has become a lifelong gift.
As for the Egyptian book, I think it might be a little tough for your kid, but then never underestimate a 12 year old's capacity for knowledge. I was an early reader that the librarians were always trying to steer into the children's section when I was picking out adult books. Have a look at it at the bookstore and see what you think. It's a great book, well written, but I found it tough going at times (so much history and overlapping names).

So Roxane, you know Franks family? LOL just kidding, I was born and grew up in West Orange, this silly world of ours gets smaller every day.
Thanks for the connection, hope we can be fast friends. Have a great day. |
